Thank you for choosing to purchase Bio Works Hypoaspis to manage your Biting Midge fly.
The hypoaspis although quite small can be seen by the naked eye, if you wear glasses to read you might want to put them on.
If you are having trouble seeing them in the bucket or on the paper towel under the lid we suggest you place a dessert spoon of the media onto the center of a piece of white printer paper and you will see them move out of the media and cross the paper in search of food and moisture. You should see they are quite active and will cover a lot of ground in their search.
Distribution is simple, all you need to do is sprinkle the media around your garden.
Ideally you would look to placing them where there is suitable environment first.
So you are looking for places where is thatch in the grass, mulch, or rotting vegetation. Anywhere there is a layer of vegetation covering the ground.
If you can see the ground through the vegetation, this is NOT suitable.
Start close to the house, or the area where you suffer most from the biting midges.
Now that dessert spoon will come in handy as you can just use it to scoop the hypos and media out of the bucket and just flick, drop, sprinkle level spoons of hypoaspis anywhere there is a suitable environment. For good coverage you would be looking to place some every 3 or 4 steps. As you get further from the area you need protecting you can spread them thinner by taking more steps in between deposits. Ideally you would place more in suitable environments and less in less suitable environments as they will travel and a good home is more important than an even spread.
If there is any left over, you could broadcast it over lawns, nature strips, neighbours fences (if you think you can get away with it).
Bear in mind, that although they like moisture they will drown if the environment becomes water logged.
